I’m just going to jump right in and say it….I don’t know what the heck I’m doing. I jumped into this internet marketing game with the naïve idea that I would plug into a great system (which I did by the way) and make bucket loads of money. I would be checking my affiliate sales from my laptop sitting on a tropical beach while gingerly sipping my margarita. Ok so that sounds a little overly simplistic. The bottom line is I don’t know what I’m doing and I’m guessing that there are many of us tadpoles swimming with the sharks feeling the same way.
I started searching for a home based business several months ago. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine myself a salesperson selling the American dream to other people like myself. I’ve always hated sales people and generally avoid them when I go into a store. So why would I become one of THEM you say. That’s a great question with so many different answers.
First and foremost every internet marketing program claims to be the best with the most to offer people like me. I’m a stay at home mom looking for another income. These internet marketing programs can smell fresh meat and then here I come looking to plug into somewhere. I was literally bombarded with emails, ads, and offers from everywhere under the sun.
I found some great programs that I couldn’t afford, some mediocre programs that I could afford but wasn’t interested in and then the outright scams. It’s enough to make a person dizzy. The truth is though these internet marketing programs are great to sign up with because there is real income potential. But you have to work for it.
So how does a newbie like me get started? Well, I started visiting some message boards and started educating myself about the programs out there. I kept hearing good things about PluginProfits because of the multiple affiliate programs offered through their site which translated into residual income potential. That sounded great to me.
Just when I thought I’d decided on this program I came across another and another so on and so forth. I made up my mind that I’d jump right in and hopefully wouldn’t fail too badly. Not a good attitude starting out but I can be pessimistic sometimes. Anyway, I paid for the program and downloaded everything I could. It took me days to get through everything and I’m not so sure I did yet. Every day I need to learn something new to keep swimming with the big fish so to speak.
Now I have everything set up and I’m following the guru’s suggestions by the book and yet I still don’t know what I’m doing. Yikes. What’s a newbie to do? I have been extremely lucky to have found a great training forum where I can ask all my dumb questions.
I can run ideas by the veterans who have been working their tails off getting their business up and running. They offer great advice and have some tried and true methods that do work if you take the time to listen. It’s been a hard lesson to learn but I realize this isn’t going to happen overnight or next week or even next month.
It’s ok though. I’ll plug away and keep asking my questions and learn all I can so someday I will be checking my affiliate sales from my laptop on a tropical beach enjoying my margarita.
